Abstract

This study compares the effectiveness of traditional laparotomy and laparoscopic hernia repair in 39 patients with mixed forms of hiatal hernia, operated on between 2015 and 2021. The results showed that the laparoscopic method reduces the incidence of postoperative complications, shortens the length of hospital stay and contributes to a faster recovery of patients, especially in the elderly. These data highlight the advantages of a minimally invasive approach, making it preferable for surgical treatment of hiatal hernia, especially in high-risk patients.
