Abstract

Despite the preventive work carried out by judicial and investigative authorities to prevent crime, the share of causing damage using piercing and cutting objects remains high. Forensic medical examination plays a significant role in solving such crimes, in the production of which answers must be given not only to fundamental questions, but also signs that the investigative authorities will necessarily encounter during the investigation must be recorded.

When conducting forensic medical examinations of cases of damage caused by sharp objects, a unified approach is required, consisting of a sequence of actions by a forensic expert to record in detail the signs that will answer basic questions, and also serve as the basis for answering questions on identifying weapons and situational examinations; participation of heads of departments of various structures of the forensic medical service to monitor compliance with regulations and legislative documents, identify shortcomings in the examinations carried out; bringing to the attention of judicial investigative bodies the head of a forensic medical expert institution of deficiencies in expert activities, quality control of examinations of forensic medical units, and advanced training of medical personnel.
