The paper provides an overview of modern methods of diagnosis and treatment of diabetic retinopathy and its complications. The advantages and disadvantages of individual treatment methods are listed. Indications and contraindications for specific types of treatment for diabetic retinopathy are described. Particular attention is paid to the surgical method of treatment, listing preoperative predictors of high or low functional and anatomical success. Brief summaries of each treatment method are provided.
