Abstract

Relevance. In Uzbekistan, the study of certain aspects of the prevalence and epidemiology of HPV has stopped at the level of phylogenetic groups, the definition of the genotypic types of HPV in the Republic is just beginning.

Goal. To study the prevalence of HPV genotypes in Uzbekistan.

Materials and methods. To study the prevalence of various HPV genotypes in Uzbekistan, a cross-sectional study was conducted among 1,679 women aged 20 to 70 years. The DNA of HPV of high carcinogenic risk was identified and quantified 16, 18, 31, 33, 35,39, 45, 51, 52, 56, 58, 59 types in the clinical material by PCR.

Results. Out of 1679 women, a positive result was detected in 192, therefore the prevalence of infection with any HPV was 11.4%. The most frequently detected genotypes were HPV 16-115 (59.9%) as a whole and 55 (28.6%) as a mono infection, 18-35 (18.2%) as a whole and 10 (5.2%) as a mono infection, 45-60 (32.1%) as a whole and 6 (3.1%) as a mono infection, 53 – 16 (8,3%), 51 – 25 (13,0%).

Conclusions: The study provides a broader epidemiological picture of the spread of HPV in Uzbekistan. The results of the study revealed a serious discrepancy between previous studies, due to differences in approaches to the choice of study group and research methods. This indicates the need for a deeper study of the epidemiology of HPV in Uzbekistan, especially on the way of the introduction and evaluation of the effectiveness of HPV vaccination.
