Abstract

Glaucoma is one of the leading causes of irreversible blindness, affecting more than 70 million people worldwide. This is a heterogeneous group of diseases characterized by the progressive death of retinal ganglion cells and their axons, leading to vision loss and blindness. In this regard, the issue of early diagnosis of glaucomatous optic neuropathy is relevant, since early detection and adequate interpretation of the nature of the pathological lesion of the optic nerve can increase the effectiveness of treatment and thereby prevent irreversible complications caused by late and erroneous diagnosis of the disease
