Данная статья посвящена исследованию организации самостоятельной работы студентов нефтегазовых вузов с точки зрения развития профессиональных компетенций. На основе сравнительного анализа понятия «самостоятельная работа» с методологической точки зрения в статье определены способы организации самостоятельной работы студентов с учетом специфики учебного процесса в инженерных вузах и представлены выводы о роли самостоятельной работы в развитии профессиональных компетенций.
