Abstract

The aim of the study is to reduce the risk of thromboembolic complications during knee surgery in patients with osteoarthritis and chronic venous insufficiency.

Materials and methods: data from 552 knee joint surgeries performed at a hospital in Samarkand in 2019-2021 were analyzed. 168 patients suffered from knee osteoarthritis, 86 of whom underwent surgery. All patients were divided into 2 groups depending on their age and treatment time. The classification was conducted in accordance with international standards, and each patient was consulted by an orthopedic traumatologist and a vascular surgeon.

Results and discussion: the application of a thromboembolic complication prevention algorithm reduced the risk of thrombosis in patients with knee osteoarthritis and chronic venous insufficiency who underwent surgical treatment. However, it is necessary to consider individual risk factors for each patient and monitor them after surgery.

Conclusions: the use of an algorithm for the prevention of thromboembolic complications can reduce the risk of thrombosis in patients, but for effective prevention, it is necessary to take into account individual risk factors and monitor after surgery.
