MANAGEMENT FOR SIGMOID VOLVULUS

Sigmoid volvulus is a common surgical emergency. Patients may experience a wide range of clinical manifestations from an asymptomatic condition to symptoms of diffuse peritonitis due to necrosis and perforation of the intestine. This group of patients requires emergency surgical care, such as endoscopic decompression and detorsion or resection of the sigmoid colon.
