BRAIN REGENERATION: STEM CELL THERAPY FOR NEURODEGENERATIVE DISEASES
Keywords:
stem cells, Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, neurodegenerative diseasesAbstract
The article analyzes a literature review of publications that discuss the positive and negative points of view of the use of stem cells in brain therapy for neurodegenerative diseases. The ability of a stem cell to transform into any human cell, especially a neuron, in such formidable, progressive and incurable, but common neurodegenerative diseases as Alzheimer's disease and Parkinson's disease, as well as multiple sclerosis, is a major breakthrough in neurology. However, there are problematic dilemmas associated with the process of obtaining and using stem cells in the context of treating these diseases. The process of extracting them may use embryonic stem cells, raising serious questions about the ethics of stem cells. Some believe that manipulating these cells in the early stages of development could be seen as interfering with natural processes or ignoring potential life. Financial implications also pose significant obstacles. Developing new treatments is an expensive process with no guaranteed success or return on investment. Therefore, many investors are hesitant to invest in this area. Other challenges include scientific issues such as ensuring the safety and effectiveness of stem cell therapies. For example, there is a risk that the transplanted cells may cause tumors or trigger an immune response. Despite challenges posed by ethical considerations and funding needs, the promise of stem cell therapy illuminates the path to revolutionary solutions that could transform the lives of people suffering from devastating neurological diseases.
