THE ROLE OF MATRIX METALLOPROTEINASE-9 AND ITS TISSUE INHIBITORY-1 AS A POSSIBLE PREDICTOR OF CEREBROVASCULAR PATHOLOGY
Keywords:
matrix metalloproteinase (MMP-9), tissue inhibitor of matrix metalloproteinase (TIMP-1), cerebrovascular diseasesAbstract
87 patients with cerebrovascular diseases and strokes aged 50 to 78 years were examined, the average age was 67.9 ± 4.8 years. In patients with cerebrovascular diseases, a tendency was revealed to increase the level of MMP-9, TIMP-1 and their ratio in the blood serum, the indicators of which can be regarded as a predictor of the severity of the cerebrovascular process.
