Abstract

The article systematizes the theoretical foundations of fractal geometry (fractal dimension, lacunarity, multifractality), describes protocols for obtaining and preprocessing images (histology, dermatoscopy, clinical photography, OCT/ultrasound of the skin), algorithms for calculating metrics (box-counting, Higuchi, Minkowski–Bouligand, one-dimensional and two-dimensional jump implementations), and shows clinical application scenarios (differentiation of scar types, treatment monitoring, keloid formation prognosis), validation, and limitations of the method. Aspects of statistics and reproducibility, integration into digital workflows, and the prospects for AI analytics are discussed. Practical recommendations for implementation in clinical research and routine practice are proposed.
