ASSESSMENT OF CLINICAL OUTCOMES AND TECHNICAL FEATURES OF ENDOVIDEOSURGICAL TREATMENT OF HIATAL HERNIA

The main method of treatment for hiatal hernia (HH) remains surgical correction, despite the modern possibilities of conservative therapy. The issue of choosing the optimal surgical method for the treatment of HH is still far from being resolved. The aim of the study was to evaluate the clinical effectiveness and technical aspects of endovideosurgical treatment of hiatal hernia. The paper presents the results of endovideosurgical treatment of 115 patients with HH. The technical features and duration of the operation, immediate postoperative outcomes, patients’ quality of life after the procedures, long-term treatment results, and disease recurrences identified by clinical, radiological, and endoscopic methods were analyzed. Laparoscopic Nissen fundoplication for the elimination of reflux, supplemented by suturing of the hernial defect (cruroplasty), is the optimal surgical method for the treatment of this disease. This operation demonstrates high efficacy, is well tolerated by patients, and has a low risk of complications, making it the gold standard treatment method.
