COMPARATIVE ASSESSMENT OF THE UPER AND LOWER JAW DENTAL EDENTIA IN THE ELDERLY POPULATION

The clinical course of periodontal disease in the elderly has a number of features: pathological processes are quite active, abscess formation is common, and pronounced inflammation of the gums and tooth mobility are due to a significant amount of dental deposits. There is evidence in the literature that 95-100% of older people need treatment for periodontal disease. Chronic periodontitis is a risk factor for the development of cardiovascular diseases, which are the main criterion that determines the health and functional status of the elderly.
