Abstract

An assessment of HBV RNA significance in detecting occult HBV infection in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma was performed. HBV RNA was identified in patients with positive anti-HCV and negative HBsAg results, as well as in patients with negative serological tests for both HBV and HCV. This finding indicates the presence of occult HBV infection. The obtained results confirm the importance of molecular diagnostics for the detection of latent viral replication.
