МАО-В ингибиторлари допамин метаболизмини сусайтириш орқали синаптик допамин миқдорини оширади, оксидатив стрессни камайтиради ва нейропротектив таъсир кўрсатади. Паркинсон касаллигининг эрта босқичларида монотерапия сифатида, кейинги босқичларида эса леводопа билан комбинацияда қўлланилганда брадикинезия, ригидлик ва калтираш каби мотор симптомларни сезиларли даражада камайтиради ҳамда касалликнинг прогрессиясини секинлаштириш имкониятига эга бўлган патогенетик даволаш воситалари сифатида аҳамият касб этади.
