GPX4 geni (19p13.3 da joylashgan) 3' mintaqada (3'UTR) joylashgan, funktsional jihatdan C718T (rs713041) polimorfizmi qandli diabet kasalligida juda ahamiyatli. Ushbu tartibga soluvchi mintaqadagi mutatsiyalar xabarchi RNK (mRNK) barqarorligiga, tarjima samaradorligiga va oxir-oqibat hujayradagi faol ferment konsentratsiyasiga ta'sir qilishi ma'lum. Sitozinni (C) timin (T) o'rniga almashtirish GPX4 ferment faolligining pasayishi bilan bog'liq. Ushbu maqolada qandli diabetda angiopatiya bilan asoratlangan bemorlarda ushbu genning muhim jihatlari keltirilgan.
