Diyabetik retinopatiya (DR) to'r pardaning mikrosirkulyator kasalligi hisoblanadi. Shu bilan birga, to'r pardaning neyrodegeneratsiyasi DR patogenezidagi dastlabki hodisa bo'lib, u DRda yuzaga keladigan mikrosirkulyator buzilishlar rivojlanishidan oldin, shuningdek ularda qatnashishi mumkin degan yangi ma'lumotlar paydo bo'lmoqda. Shu sababli, neyrodegeneratsiyaga olib keladigan asosiy mexanizmlarni o'rganish DRning dastlabki bosqichlarida yangi terapevtik maqsadlarni aniqlash uchun juda muhimdir.
