Abstract

Each name has its own history and reason for birth. Rivers, water, wells, springs, lakes, seas (hydronyms), mountains, cliffs, hills, ridges, passes, forests, pastures (oronyms), names of settlements (oikonyms) and their historical names the study requires a scientific basis.

The standardized version of the names on a national basis, on the one hand, is the basis for the use of various international official documents and primary sources, on the other hand, the identification of names in circulation, the development of various identifiers, maps, national security, census, transport, etc. It is very important for education and other fields. At the same time, the United Nations team of experts on geographical names calls for caution and respect for place names in the language of any nation. The article emphasizes that the system of place names of our people is one of the indicators of national identity.
