ON THE STUDY OF IDIOMATIC EXPRESSIONS IN THE ASPECT OF LINGUOCULTURAL SCIENCE

This article discusses the issue of studying idiomatic expressions within the framework of linguistic and cultural science. The main factors of this approach to the study of idioms are the cultural turn, intercultural communication, the development of translation studies, and the study of linguistic aspects of culture. It is indicated that most idioms have their roots in historical events or legends that influenced the culture of the people and a classification of idioms is given in an etymological aspect. Dwells in detail on idioms that go back to historical events and facts; idioms dating back to folklore; idioms dating back to mythology; idioms dating back to literary works. Specific examples are given for each type.
