Background: Intermittent strabismus represents a complex binocular vision disorder characterized by occasional deviation of the visual axis of one eye.
Objective: To analyze the results of comprehensive treatment in patients with intermittent strabismus.
Material and Methods: A total of 98 children (155 eyes) with intermittent strabismus were observed between 2021 and 2025. Patients in the main study group were divided into three subgroups. Group 4 served as the comparison group (CG) and comprised 12 patients (18 eyes).
Results: Comparative analysis of treatment efficacy demonstrated that the highest proportion of full correction (orthophoria) was achieved in Group 1 (81.4%), indicating high efficiency of the modified technique in patients with intermittent exotropia of the divergence excess type. In Group 3, the orthophoria rate reached 69%, which also represents a favorable outcome. In the comparison group (Group 4), the proportion of fully corrected eyes was the lowest at 44.4%.
Conclusions: Simultaneous, phased, comprehensive intervention targeting various levels of the visual system—including surgical restoration of orthophoria, functional therapy, and software-based computer programs for restoring binocular interaction—ensures the development of retinal binocular cooperation and promotes a stable therapeutic outcome.
