MODERN VIEWS ON THE DIAGNOSIS AND TREATMENT OF PATIENTS WITH KERATOCONUS (literature review)

The authors analyzed domestic and foreign literature data on the problem under study. There were summarized views on the problem of etiopathogenesis, classification, clinical and diagnostic algorithm and treatment of keratoconus. Despite the excess amount of literature devoted to diagnosing and treating keratoconus, there is no consensus on the degree of corneal structural impairment at various stages of the disease. For practitioners, the tasks of predicting diseases and searching for the most informative signs that can determine the outcome of the disease with a high degree of reliability are vital. Based on this, it is necessary to conduct a full comprehensive clinical and functional study and a comprehensive assessment of the rehabilitation therapy of keratoconus.
