Abstract

Traumatic brain injury (TBI) remains a major cause of mortality and long-term disability worldwide and represents a significant burden for healthcare systems. The objective of this retrospective analytical study was to evaluate the correlation between clinical manifestations of traumatic brain injury and neuroimaging findings obtained by multislice computed tomography (MSCT). A total of 142 patients with suspected intracranial pathology following head trauma were included in the study. Clinical assessment was performed using neurological examination and Glasgow Coma Scale scoring, while neuroimaging was conducted using 64-slice CT. The results demonstrated a significant clinical-radiological dissociation, with 31.7% of patients showing no structural abnormalities on CT despite clinical symptoms, while occult intracranial lesions were detected in asymptomatic individuals. Epidural hematoma, subdural hematoma, and subarachnoid hemorrhage were identified in 32.4%, 11.3%, and 24.6% of cases, respectively. These findings highlight the limitations of clinical assessment alone and emphasize the necessity of routine neuroimaging screening in patients with suspected TBI to improve early diagnosis and optimize treatment strategies.
