THE HISTORY OF ORTHOGNATHIC CORRECTION OF UPPER JAW DEFORMITY

The article provides a chronological analysis of the scientific literature on the surgical treatment of deformities of the upper jaw. The history of orthognathic treatment of deformities of the upper jaw began with simple operations in the area of its alveolar process, where the main attention of clinicians was focused on correcting the bite. Currently, the use of modern medical technology allows them to be performed on all bones of the middle zone of the face to achieve an optimal aesthetic balance of the face and bite in patients with various forms of deformities of the upper jaw.
