RESULTS OF CLINICAL-X-RAY AND FUNCTIONAL EXAMINATION OF PATIENTS WITH COMBINED TRAUMA OF THE ETHMATICAL SINUS AND WALLS OF THE NASO-ZYGO-OCULAR COMPLEX

Trauma of the ethmoid sinus occurs in approximately 3% of cases of combined trauma of the paranasal sinuses. The consequences of combined trauma of the paranasal sinuses are manifested not only by disturbances of facial functions, but also by the development of complications such as post-traumatic sinusitis of the maxillary sinuses, frontal sinusitis, osteomyelitis of the upper jaw and forehead bones, inflammatory processes in the orbit. The data available in the literature show that from 10 to 65% of injuries to the facial skeleton are complicated by the development of infectious and inflammatory complications, the development of persistent facial deformations, facial configuration disorders, bite disorders and post-traumatic sinusitis.
