Abstract

This article examines the application of Task-Based Language Teaching (TBLT) in teaching English for Specific Purposes (ESP) to oil and gas industry specialists, highlighting its relevance and impact on professional communication skills. TBLT leverages real-world tasks, such as drafting safety protocols, resolving technical problems, and conducting cross-border negotiations, to create an immersive and practical learning environment. By focusing on authentic industry-specific scenarios, TBLT enables learners to develop their technical vocabulary, critical thinking, and teamwork skills while enhancing their linguistic competence.

The study discusses the measurable benefits of TBLT, including increased learner motivation, improved technical vocabulary acquisition, and enhanced practical communication skills. It also addresses challenges such as language barriers, resource constraints, and the need for instructor training. The article concludes with recommendations for overcoming these challenges, including scaffolding for low-proficiency learners, collaboration with industry professionals for resource development, and targeted training programs for educators.
