INTRODUCTION OF A NEW APPROACH IN TEACHING ENGLISH FOR OIL AND GAS STUDENTS

Abstract

The purpose of the article is to investigate the effectiveness of application of video materials in teaching English at higher education for enhancing future petroleum engineers’ professional communication in English and improving their English proficiency. By dealing with the meaning of the term authenticity, the article proves that the video materials in Russian language taken by specialists in oil and gas fields may referred to as an authentic teaching material for an English classroom. Furthermore, there provided the advantages of textbooks used in conducting English classes for ESP students in the Branch of Russian State University of Oil and Gas named after I.M. Gubkin in Tashkent city. In general, the article recommends new approach in teaching English for oil and gas students.
