Abstract

As the topic of the phenomenal existence of the East is always discussed, the theoretical and methodological aspects of the mutual opposition in the interpretive approaches are questioned. The purpose of this study is to analyze the genesis of the oriental studies paradigm and the work "Oriental studies" that is the basis of this paradigm, which emerged from the second half of the XX th century in the context of the weakening of the imperialist tendency on the historical stage. The study is based on an analysis of the genesis and conceptual analysis of the concept of Orientalism, which is recognized as one of the paradigmatic foundations of postcolonial studies in the approach to the phenomenon of the East, developed by Edward Said. The socio-political factors that shaped Edward Said's philosophical thinking were also analyzed in the study.
