Abstract

The main goal of the Jadid movement, which flourished in Turkestan in the second half of the 19th - early 20th centuries, was to develop a country lagging behind its time since it was based on backward feudal relations. The Jadids were outstanding people of their time and possessed a deep knowledge of both religious and secular sciences. The founders of this movement, correctly understanding the essence of Islam, firmly believed that if members of society, especially young men and women, thoroughly mastered secular knowledge in parallel with religious knowledge, the suffering Turkestan people would remain stable. They worked selflessly and courageously to achieve this goal. These were the first attempts to apply religious, and secular sciences to the new conditions of our country. However, the realization of these good intentions was not easy for them.
