Abstract

This article analyzes the lexical-semantic field of the Uzbek word “tarbiya” (upbringing/education), examining its essence not only as a linguistic unit but also as a means reflecting the spiritual, moral, and pedagogical values of society. The article explores the semantic description of the word “tarbiya” in various dictionaries, pedagogical literature, and the works of enlightened thinkers such as Abdulla Avloniy.

Through the concept of “tarbiya” positive lexemes representing moral virtues—such as conscience, honesty, patience, loyalty, and nobility—form the central semantic core, while words denoting negative traits are positioned in opposition. The semantic analysis of the “tarbiya” concept reveals its level of abstraction, axiological features, and its connection with national values, while also identifying the structure of the developing semantic field of “tarbiya” in the Uzbek language, including its core, center, periphery, and marginal parts.
