SATIRE AND HUMOR IN THE WORK OF WASHINGTON IRVING

This article is about the stages of Washington Irving’s works through a growing interest in science in today's open society on issues of interaction between different peoples and different cultures (including Eastern and Western cultures). In that sense, he is an American writer. We think it would be appropriate to refer to the romantic orientalism, oriental motifs in the work of V. Irving. The aim of our research is to reveal the motives of satire and humor in the works of V. Irving, that is, to sharply criticize the shortcomings and shortcomings, to show its importance in the work of the writer.
The scientific novelty of this article is a more thorough study of the artistic imagery in the works of V. Irving, tracing the evolution of satire and humorous motifs in his novels through many centuries. In the management of the subject, the author's works used a comparative-historical method, which allows to reveal the features and main directions.
