APPLICATION OF L-PRF TECHNOLOGY IN THE COMPREHENSIVE SURGICAL TREATMENT OF MEDICATION-RELATED OSTEONECROSIS OF THE JAWS

A retrospective study included 30 patients with stage II MRONJ: 20 patients underwent surgical treatment with L-PRF, while 10 patients received conventional surgical treatment without L-PRF. The groups were comparable in terms of sex, age, lesion localization, and type of antiresorptive therapy. The aim of the study was to evaluate the clinical efficacy of L-PRF as an adjunctive component of comprehensive surgical treatment for patients with medication-related osteonecrosis of the jaws. In the main group, complete mucosal healing after 30 days was achieved in 100% of patients, compared with 70.0% in the control group (p=0.029). No postoperative complications were observed in the L-PRF group, whereas they occurred in 30.0% of patients receiving conventional treatment (p=0.029). The mean healing time was 30.0±0.0 versus 42.0±8.0 days, respectively (p=0.001), confirming the effectiveness of L-PRF in accelerating epithelialization and reducing complications.
