ASSESSMENT PHYSICAL AND SOMATIC CONDITIONS OF THE CHILDREN WITH CHRONIC KIDNEY DISEASE (CKD)
Keywords:
Chronic kidney disease, children, growth failure, chronic glomerular diseases, congenital malformations of the urinary systemAbstract
Objective: Assessment the growth development of children with CKD related to age, disease stage and duration.
Materials and Methods: The study was conducted on 260 children aged 5 to 18 years, including 152 boys and 108 girls with various stages of chronic kidney disease (CKD) in the nephrology department of the Samarkand Regional Multidisciplinary Medical Center. The study used general clinical, laboratory (hematological, biochemical), instrumental and statistical methods of research.
Results: The inclusion criteria for the study were children under 18 years of age, with CKD stages I, II, III, IV without dialysis, chronic glomerular diseases, congenital malformations of the urinary system, GFR values > 15 ml/min/1.73 m2. At the age 5-9 years (n=107) height was in average ranges 116,3±1,2 sm and weight around 20,9±0,4 kg, GFR level was 47,38±1,8 ml/min/1.73 m2 with 3.72,9±0,26 years duration of disease. In second age groups 10-14 years (n=119) height was in ranges of 140,9±0,9 sm and weight 38,2±0,7 kg. GFR indicators shows 49,03±2,3 ml/min/1.73 m2 with disease duration around 4,82±0,3 years. Third group 15-18 years (n=33) patient’s height was in ranges of 163,3±1,6 sm and weight 61,9±2,1 kg with GFR 57,96±6,3 ml/min/1.73 m2 and disease duration around 5,84±0,7 years.
Conclusions. General physiological and somatic condition of children with CKD determined by the stage and duration of the disease. CKD in childhood can cause significant delay in growth especially stage 3-5 in 50% cases. Untreated CKD caused by congenital pathology, growth retardation mostly observed in the younger age group 5-9 years.
