Abstract

Congenital or acquired deformities of the external nose are often accompanied by deviation of the nasal septum and impaired nasal breathing. Prolonged nasal airway obstruction may lead to the development of various forms of chronic inflammation in the nasal cavity and paranasal sinuses, the auditory tube and middle ear, as well as inflammatory diseases of the pharynx, larynx, trachea, and bronchi. The aim of this study is to examine the problem of nasal breathing disorders in patients with external nasal deformities combined with deviated nasal septum. The study presents diagnostic findings and surgical treatment outcomes in patients with nasal deformities. A total of 43 patients with external nasal deformities and septal deviation, who underwent inpatient treatment and surgical intervention over the past five years, were examined. Among these patients, changes in the internal nasal structures were observed, such as septal deviation, narrowing of the nasal passages, and hypertrophy of the turbinates. An analysis was conducted on the outcomes of surgeries aimed at correcting external nasal and septal deformities. Measures were taken to prevent the most common postoperative complications. Improved functional outcomes were achieved following simultaneous reconstruction of the nasal bones and resection of the deviated portion of the nasal septum.
