Abstract

A prospective study of 163 patients with the new coronavirus infection COVID-19, hospitalized in the Samarkand Regional Specialized Medical Center for the period 2020-2022, was conducted. The level of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF A) in the blood serum was studied using the enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay method. The results of the conducted studies on the pathogenetic significance of markers of endothelial dysfunction in COVID-19 associated pneumonia showed that the endothelial dysfunction marker VEGF-A reaches reliably high levels, having a strong correlation with inflammatory markers both during admission to hospital, as well as during the discharge period. In this regard, pathogenetic therapy, including drugs with anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and antifibrogenic effects during the early recovery period of COVID-19, is highly advisable.
