Abstract

Aim: to study the features of the course of bronchial asthma in children with perinatal damage to the central nervous system.

Materials and methods: The study is based on data from a comprehensive examination of 90 children, divided into two groups, comparable by gender and age. There 53 children aged 5 to 11 years with BA due to the consequences of perinatal central nervous system damage made up the main group. The comparison group consisted of 37 children aged 6 to 11 years with asthma without concomitant neurological symptoms.

Results: The studies conducted showed that in the sick children with asthma we examined against the background of the consequences of perinatal damage to the CNS, pronounced changes in intercellular immune mechanisms were observed. The revealed direction of immune changes and their severity indicate the important pathogenetic role of immune mechanisms in the development and progression of changes in the state of the immune system in children with BA with concomitant damage to the CNS of functional origin.

Conclusions: It was found that children in the main group had lower indicators of physical activity and PEF in relation to the indicators of children in the comparison group. A comparative analysis of the cytokine status of children with BA against the background of the consequences of perinatal damage to the central nervous system with data from children with asthma without concomitant neurological symptoms showed a significant imbalance and significantly high levels of IL-6, IL-8 and TNF-α in the main group of patients.
