Особое место в сохранении здоровья занимает и стоматологическая заболеваемость спортсменов, которая как показывает статистика остаётся на высоком уровне, что и определяет актуальность его изучения, сохранения, а также профилактики. Исследования последних лет по изучению стоматологического статуса спортсменов в России подтверждают распространенность кариеса зубов и высокие средние показатели его интенсивности при вычислении индекса КПУ, так их среднее значение составило до 6,3.
