HISTORY OF ACTIVITIES OF ARCHIVE INSTITUTIONS IN THE FERGANA VALLEY REGIONS: PROBLEMS AND SOLUTIONS

Abstract

This article provides information about the establishment of archives in the Fergana Valley, the attention paid to archives, and the work carried out on material and technical support. The article also analyzes the formation and development of archival institutions in the Fergana Valley regions based on historical processes. The study gradually covers the formation of state archives in the Fergana, Andijan, and Namangan regions in the 1920s and 1930s, their management systems, the composition of their collections, and document storage and accounting practices. The author identifies current challenges facing archival work: a lack of material and technical resources, varying levels of staff qualifications, the slowness of the digitization process, and shortcomings in the culture of document management and use across regions. The article also develops proposals and solutions for addressing these issues, taking into account the requirements of modern archival science. It substantiates such areas as the modernization of archival infrastructure, the widespread adoption of digital technologies, strengthening scientific and methodological work, and expanding integration with local historiography and the education system. The research results have important scientific and practical implications for a more in-depth study of the history of archival institutions in the Fergana Valley, for improving the work of regional archives, and for introducing documents into scholarly circulation.
