SHIPPING ON THE SYRDARYA: WATER MEDIA, TYPES OF USE, ORDER OF OPERATION

The article deals with development of the Syrdarya basin,Chinese sources,data of Arab geographers and tourists,the result of research conducted during the former Soviet era,the years of independence ,the emergence and development of shipping in the Syrdarya and its tributaries .The role of large settlements and cities on the banks of the Syrdarya in the regional communication system,built in antiquity and the early Middle Age,is analyzed on the basis of historical sources on the example of ancient and medieval times.
