HOUSES OF THE JUZES OF THE SURKHAN OASIS

In the late 19th - early 20th centuries, significant changes began to take place in the social life of the population of the Surkhan oasis. With the development of agriculture and trade, the process of transition of the nomadic population to a sedentary way of life intensified. These changes also influenced the life of the Juz tribe living in the oasis. The sedentary Juzes began to build one- or multi-room houses from pakhsa and adobe bricks. At the same time, the Juzes continued to use their traditional dwellings - yurt, lachig, kapa. This article provides information about the traditional dwellings of the Juzes living in the Surkhan oasis.
