FROM THE HISTORY OF THE REIGN OF ALIMKHAN: DISTRUST OF THE SHAIKHS AND SUFIS

This article examines the period of Alimkhan's reign and his attitude towards Sufis, Ishans, Shaykhs, the disclosure of false miracle workers and false Shaykhs, the khan's search and study of documents confirming genealogy or permission for spiritual leadership, conducting examinations and punishing Shaykhs for non-compliance with Shay'ah, the influence of spiritual leaders and relationships with them, the participation of the khan himself in the Jahriya sect and dhikr sessions. The article also analyzes the growing role and status of mystics in the political life of the Kokand Khanate since the XIX century, as well as the struggle of the khans, including Alimkhan.
