FROM THE HISTORY OF THE FORMATION OF MILITARY MEDICINE IN THE TURKESTAN REGION: TOUCHES TO THE PORTRAIT OF P. F. BOROVSKII

This article is devoted to a unique personality – P.F. Borovskii, who made an invaluable contribution to the formation of military medicine in the Turkestan region. Based on the analysis of a large number of sources and scientific literature, the author studied the biography of this outstanding Russian scientist, military doctor and his activities in Turkestan. The study highlighted the stages of formation of P.F. Borovskii in the region not only as a military doctor, a brilliant surgeon, a social activist, a teacher and an organizer, but also as a parasitologist. It is to him that the merit belongs in determining the cholera vibrio as the causative agent of cholera during the epidemic in Tashkent in 1892, and it is P.F. Borovskii, who is the discoverer of the causative agent of cutaneous leishmaniasis. The article will be of interest to specialists, both in the field of history and medicine.
