Maqolada Toshkent shahrining shakllanishi va rivojlanishida hududning siyosiy, ijtimoiy-iqtisodiy, madaniy-maʼrifiy, maʼnaviy taraqqiyoti va Toshkent hududida maʼlum tarixiy davrlarda yashagan aholi toʻgʻrisidagi maʼlumotlarni tadqiq etishda arxiv hujjatlarining ahamiyati ko’rsatib berilgan. Xususan, shaharlarning tarixiy taraqqiyotini o’rganish va tahlil qi lash uchun arxiv hujjatlarini to’plash va tahlil qilish muhim qadam ekanligi asoslangan. Shu nuqtai nazardan tarixiy arxivning ko’plab fondlarida tadqiqot ishlarini olib borish zaruriyati ko’rsatib berilgan. Мaqolada Toshkent shahrining 20-asr tarixiga oid boy maʼlumotlarni oʻz ichiga olgan Toshkent davlat shahar arxivining ayrim fondlari materiallari tahlil etilgan.

Ташкентский государственный городской архив образован в ноябре 1973г. Фонды архива увеличиваются и расширяются и в сегодняшний дней за счет поступления новых материалов с организаций и предприятий различных отраслей городской жизни (The Tashkent State City Archive was established in November 1973. The archive funds are increasing and expanding even today due to the receipt of new materials from organizations and enterprises of various branches of urban life).
Основываясь на исторические события в жизни города Ташкента, историю его топонимического развития можно разделить на следующие этапы: 1917 – 1930-е гг. – мероприятия советской власти по установлению своего режима; 1941 – 1950-е гг. – военный период и годы восстановления хозяйства; 1965 – 1970-е гг. – преобразования в городе, связанные с землетрясением 1965 г. и ликвидациями его последствий, дальнейшее благоустройство города; 1980-е годы – осуществление перестройки и её особенности; с 1991 г. по современный период – коренные преобразования городской жизни, связанные с достижением Узбекистаном независимости и установлением рыночных отношений, проведением со стороны государства демократических преобразований и реформ (Based on the historical events in the life of the city of Tashkent, the history of its toponymic development can be divided into the following stages: 1917 - 1930s. - measures taken by the Soviet authorities to establish their own regime; 1941 - 1950s - the war period and the years of economic recovery; 1965 - 1970s - transformations in the city related to the earthquake of 1965 and the elimination of its consequences, further improvement of the city; 1980s - the implementation of perestroika and its features; from 1991 to the present period - radical transformations of urban life associated with the achievement of independence by Uzbekistan and the establishment of market relations, the conduct of democratic transformations and reforms by the state).
