ACQUISITION OF POLYSEMOUS WORDS IN CHILDREN'S SPEECH: COGNITIVE AND PSYCHOLINGUISTIC APPROACHES

This scientific article presents a review of research on the acquisition of polysemy. The article provides an overview of studies on polysemy and homonymy in children's language acquisition. It offers insights into how children perceive the relationship between form and meaning when learning new words. Additionally, the article highlights the educational significance of mastering polysemy, the importance of cognitive approaches in language learning, and the stages of acquiring polysemous words based on research findings. In conclusion, the article analyzes theoretical and empirical works grounded in psycholinguistic-cognitive approaches to polysemy acquisition.
