SOME ISSUES OF THE ECOLOGICAL HISTORY OF THE KHOREZM OASIS

This article examines key aspects of the ecological history of the Khorezm oasis within the framework of a modern interdisciplinary approach. It reconsiders the role of the natural environment as an active factor in historical development. Special attention is paid to the Amu Darya as the main natural determinant of the region’s development, whose changes in riverbed over millennia shaped patterns of settlement and economic activity of the population.
