Abstract

This article analyzes the agrarian transformations during the period of the Khorezm People's Soviet Republic (1920-1924) and the role played by the Ministry of Land Affairs, its organizational structure, and main areas of activity. Based on archival documents, it highlights the land distribution work carried out by the ministry during the transition of agrarian relations from the Khiva Khanate era to the new administration, the restoration of traditional irrigation facilities, assistance provided to peasant farms, and measures taken to introduce agricultural credit. Furthermore, the obstacles that arose in the ministry's activities amid a complex socio-political situation, resistance movements, and shortages of material and technical resources, as well as the distinctive aspects of land accounting and the management of waqf (endowment) properties, are objectively assessed from a scholarly standpoint.
