Abstract

The article talks about the concept of the linguistic level and its scientific research, which is one of the problematic and controversial issues in linguistics of the twentieth century. Scientific works, studies, as well as their important results, carried out in the field of linguistics, differ in connection with the level and its characteristics. The author expressed his point of view regarding these thoughts and considerations, and came to the appropriate conclusions.

The work presents a kind of views on the definition of today about linguistic and speech units, therefore, it became necessary to determine the linguistic and speech levels. In the language, phoneme, morpheme and word are marked as the main linguistic units, and sentences, complex syntactic constructions and paragraphs are marked in speech. Based on this, phonemic, morphemic and vocabulary levels are put forward as a language level, and in speech - sentences, complex syntactic structures and definition of paragraph levels.
