EFFICACY OF SEMAX SPRAY IN COMPLEX TREATMENT OF ISCHEMIC STROKE AND ITS EFFECT ON BLOOD LEVELS OF NEUROTROPHIC FACTOR BDNF IN PATIENTS

Abstract

The article presents results of a prospective randomized controlled study on the efficacy of the intranasal spray "Semax" (containing a complex of neuropeptides and growth factors) in the complex therapy of acute ischemic stroke (AIS). Assessment of neurological deficit using the NIHSS scale and functional recovery via the mRS scale at 3 months showed statistically significant improvement in the main group compared to the control. The key result was a significant increase in serum levels of brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) in patients receiving "Semax" which correlated with better clinical outcomes. The obtained data indicate the neuroprotective and neuroreparative potential of the drug and open prospects for its use in neurorehabilitation practice.
