Ischemic stroke is heterogeneous in its pathogenesis and more than a third of stroke subtypes are cardioembolic variant. In this article, 268 cases of cardioembolic stroke were analyzed on the basis of a 5-year follow-up in terms of etiopathogenetic structure, clinic features, treatment and profilactics. Particular attention is paid to diagnostic criteria, clinical features and individual issues of therapeutic tactics.
