Ischemic stroke (IS) is the second or third most common cause of death in the population and the leading cause of disability among the elderly. According to international epidemiological studies, stroke occupies a leading place in the structure of both mortality and disability of the population and is a serious medical and socio-economic problem for society. Statistical studies conducted in a number of the CIS countries, including Uzbekistan, indicate a rejuvenation of strokes and an increase in the proportion of young women and an increase in the incidence of new strokes among rural residents.
