Parkinson's disease (PD) is a chronic, progressive neurodegenerative disease characterized by damage to dopaminergic neurons in the substantia nigra of the midbrain.Cognitive, emotional, and personality changes are often more debilitating than motor impairments. In addition to typical motor symptoms such as tremor, bradykinesia and rigidity, patients experience severe neuropsychological disorders. This article examines the main types of cognitive deficits, emotional and behavioral changes, and the specifics of their diagnosis and treatment.
